The vehicles we use are specially adapted 4WD Land Cruisers or Land Rover with pop-up-roof for easier game viewing. These robust vehicles are able to take you into wildlife territory that is inaccessible to larger vehicle.

A safari in Northern Tanzania across the Serengeti a vast endless plain that arguably has the highest concentration of game in Africa. Ngorongoro Crater is a huge Caldera enclosed by sheer walls; the crater is breathtaking; this garden of eden flourishes with flora and fauna in a relatively small area. Western Kilimanjaro where Tanzania and Kenya have met together makes for a truly unique game viewing safari, against the back drop of the snows of Kilimanjaro.

Southern Tanzania is truly wild. This vast, seldom traveled area offers safaris that evoke the romance, enchantment and spiritual delight of the Tanzanian Bush. The Selous Game Reserve is as huge as it is wild - it is possible to drive the whole day and not meet another vehicle; this reserve is also famed for boat safaris along the Rufiji River.

Western Tanzania is home to Gombe Stream and Mahale National Parks sitting near Lake Tanganyika providing a rare opportunity to observe and study the behavior of the chimpanzee and is one of the most interesting areas Tanzania has to offer.

Serengeti Balloon Safaris

05hr00, you will be collected from your central Serengeti Lodge or campsite, and transfer you by Land Rover to their launch site near Maasai Kopjes. Here you will meet your pilot, where you will receive a short briefing and watch the inflation of your balloon.

At dawn you take off, rising as the sun rises and float in whichever direction the winds of the morning take you. Your pilot can precisely control the altitude of your balloon: sometimes flying at treetop height, sometimes lower, offering a unique perspective and great photographic opportunities of the wildlife below.

This popular excursion is available on all safaris which include an overnight stay at any of the central Serengeti Lodges and campsites. It includes a pre- dawn collection from your accommodation for the trip to the launch site, take- off around dawn and a flight of around one hour duration.

After landing there is a champagne toast, and then passengers are taken to a very special breakfast served out on the open plains under the shade of an umbrella tree. After the meal, everyone is returned to Seronera Wildlife Lodge for collection by their drivers.
The safari is finished by about 9.30 a.m. so that this excursion can fit in with any itinerary- even where not all members of a group want to take the balloon option.

Two balloons, with a capacity of 28 passengers in total, fly once each day. This is the only balloon trip available in Tanzania, and due to its popularity and limited capacity, advance booking is strongly recommended.

In case of cancellation by the operating company due to climatic conditions or any other reason, you will have the option of a flight the following morning if this fits into your itinerary, or a full refund.
