Public campsites can be split into two categories - inside the national parks and outside the parks. All of the public campsites have facilities including toilets and showers. Some have dining shelter and in others are open spaces where clients can just have dinner next to their own tents. The public campsites inside the game parks (Tanzania’s National Parks and Conservation Areas like Ngorongoro) are a more costly option than camping outside the parks.
We set out tents and break all the tents after using them; we provide our clients a full board service and do our best to make sure everyone is comfortable and happy. We purchase all the groceries and supplies for each safari, and provide one of our expert bush chefs to prepare and cook all the meals for our guests. Our camping guests will attest that our cooks can prepare gourmet meals despite their kitchen being in the wilds.
The camping gear, equipment and tents are clean and modern. Participation is not required to set the campsite or perform tasks in the camp, but any help offered is always appreciated. We provide a pick – up truck supply vehicle carrying the cook(s), and the driver of this vehicle helps set and break campsite but this service is provided to the larger groups.
For small groups of 1 – 3 on a budget, they can opt for the cook and the camping gear go with them in/on their safari vehicle, along with their safari driver – guide. The equipment is dropped at each of the camp, so time is taken at each site while the camp is being set or struck and the vehicle loaded.
The public campsite we offer includes the following amenities:
Sleeping tents: 2.3m x 2.3m insect – proof dome rip stop tents with verandahs (used as a single or a double tent); for triple we use a larger version (3m X 3m), Each person sleeps on a frame bed with a 3” foam mattress. We provide pillows and sleeping bags to fit the conditions, each one with its own liner bag. Just outside each tent are its own wash stand and its own hurricane lamp burning at night.
Dining tents: We’ve designed and fabricated our own dining tents which function well no matter what the conditions, with removable ‘walls’ to let in air and sights in when the weather is pleasant, and shut out the elements when needed. We provide dining tables, lightweight chairs with backs, and at night tables are lit by candlelight. When possible, meals are taken al fresco.
Kindly note that we only provide a dinning tent to the large groups because it easy to carry the all equipments with a supply vehicle.
