Mount Meru Climbing

mount-meru-climbing

Aardvark Expeditions runs professionally organized and led Mt Meru Climbing. Meru is often overlooked as many people aim for Kilimanjaro. However, as a pre Kilimanjaro acclimatization trip, or those that are looking to add another beautiful high altitude peak to their portfolio of peaks, it comes very highly recommended!

Professional Guides:
Our guides go through bi annual training focusing specifically on topics such as Acute Mountain Sickness, the identification and treatment of Cerebral and Pulmonary Edemas and we even teach topics such as geology and botany – i.e. our systems on Mt Kilimanjaro are mirrored on Mt Meru.

Safety On Mt Meru:
Safety is an essential part of all of our systems from the training programs we run, the information we collect before you trek and the check we perform on a daily basis. For operators that have used us on Kilimanjaro before – our systems on all high altitude trips are the same, i.e. attention to detail and safety are paramount.

There is only 1 route up Mt Meru and the park authorities also insist that hikers use the huts provided. Aardvark Expeditions trip leader Philemon Joel has ascended mount Meru from the Eastern side with the parks permission but this is still not an option for regular tourists. Should anything change then we will be letting our Newsletter subscribers know first.
