Lemosho Route

The Lemosho Route is renowned for its stunning beauty and is considered one of the most picturesque trails to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. This route passes through the entire Shira Plateau, offering a smooth and enjoyable hike, with low crowds until it merges with the Machame Route near Lava Tower.

Compared to other routes on the mountain, the Lemosho Route is relatively newer and shares a portion of the trail with the Machame Route, but it has its own unique advantages that make it worth considering, especially for those who have additional time.

Starting on the western side of Kilimanjaro at the Londorossi Gate, the Lemosho Route takes you through a serene rainforest, where you might encounter various species of wildlife. This includes black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, and a diverse range of birds and small lizards. The trail then leads to the Shira Plateau, where you’ll cross it from west to east, enjoying a relatively flat and easy hike.
